A Warm Welcome from the Dean

Best wishes,The phenomenon of climate change/temperature on the entire surface of the earth which is also often called global warming or Global warming is no longer just an issue, but a frightening reality that already exists in front of all of us as inhabitants of the green planet earth. Facing it together is the obligation of all of us, both the state government, non-governmental organizations, manufacturing industry companies, forestry & mining industries, researchers and professionals, universities and all individuals in the wider community.Trisakti University as one of the leading universities in Indonesia has been concerned about this issue for more than 30 years. This concern is due to the strong sense of responsibility of higher education institutions towards improving the quality of life and civilization (Usakti Vision) for the welfare of mankind and environmental sustainability (FALTL Vision). Trisakti University’s concern for the importance of preparing competent professionals and educated personnel in analyzing, preventing and solving environmental problems is by establishing and developing the Faculty of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Technology (FALTL).The Faculty of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Technology, which has three departments or study programs, namely the Department of Landscape Architecture (1970), the Department of Environmental Engineering (1986) and the Department of Planology (1996), is the only faculty within Trisakti University that has a dual role. Besides playing a role in developing science, technology and art (IPTEKSEN) in order to support the dynamics of development, at the same time developing science and technology in order to prevent and reduce the impact of development that tends to reduce environmental quality and trigger environmental disasters. In its role as a center for the study and development of science and technology that supports the dynamics of development, FALTL through the three existing departments or study programs consistently innovates a fast curriculum to always be able to follow the development of global science and technology which is developing so rapidly and is increasingly sophisticate. The competence of graduates from each department and existing study program is always oriented to the ability to respond to current actual needs and their adaptability to the accelerated process of development in the future. As for its role as a center for the study and development of science and technology that prevents and reduces the negative impacts of development, FALTL through the three existing departments or study programs is sensitive to re-innovation of the curriculum that is responsive to the tendency of environmental degradation and potential environmental disasters as direct or indirect impacts. from development. The competence of graduates from each department and existing study program is always honed and prepared for their sensitivity and concern for the various possible negative impacts of development, both on local, regional and global scales. The Landscape Architecture department or study program is designed to produce engineering graduates who are competent in managing urban open spaces that have high social, cultural, economic and aesthetic values; Competent in managing and preserving natural, cultural and tourism potential areas that have local, national and international selling points; Competent in managing in a sustainable manner global assets in the form of natural environmental potentials such as mountains, forests, rivers, lakes, swamps as well as coasts and islands; Also competent to rehabilitate & revitalize areas that naturally lack potential or are damaged due to exploration or exploitation such as dry land areas, peatlands or mining areas. The Environmental Engineering department or study program is designed to produce engineering graduates who are competent in planning and managing urban water and waste supply systems, both liquid and solid; Competent in managing the quality of the urban environment, rural environment and natural environment; Competent in analyzing, and finding solutions to possible environmental impacts due to development; Competent in detecting and developing innovations to overcome the occurrence of chemical or biological pollution on the quality of soil, water and air due to industrial activities, mining and people’s lifestyles; Also competent in managing environmental health and occupational health.Planology Engineering majors or study programs are designed to produce competent engineering graduates to develop regional and urban social, cultural and economic potentials; Competent in developing Regional and Urban Policy Plans and Physical Plans; Competent in developing General Urban and Regional Spatial Plans; Competent in developing Regional and Urban Detailed Plans; And competent in developing Land Use Plans, Layout Plans and Site Plans. With competencies that are so broad, diverse and also specific, in fact, graduates of existing study programs have prospects for employment, careers and professions that are also very broad, diverse and have specific qualifications. Therefore, if the readers are concerned about the preservation of the natural environment and our Earth in the midst of the dynamics of development that we also need for the sake of mutual prosperity, we invite our sons and daughters, relatives and friends to achieve their goals through the available study programs. on our faculty.May God always bestow mercy and protection on us all, Amen
